- I toured coast to coast in a band for a few years.
- I built my own slide guitar
- I like to make sushi for me and my wife
I grew up in Corn, Oklahoma, a small town of about 500 people. There were 21 people in my high school graduating class. I was the middle child with an older and younger brother. As a kid, I loved playing with Legos, only I didn’t just build what was on the box, I built transmissions and other complex mechanical devices. I loved any kind of extreme sport - BMX, skateboarding, snowboarding, dirt bikes - I did it all. Amazingly, I’ve never broken a bone! I learned to play the guitar in the eighth grade and recently got into small circuit design making my own guitar pedals, but more about that later.
In high school, I played just about every sport from soccer, to basketball, to football. I enjoyed them all. College is what brought me to Kansas. I attended Mid-America Nazarene in Olathe, KS where I got my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. Remember the guitar playing? In college I started a band called SAMESTATE with some friends and ended up getting signed to a major label in Nashville. That was a lot of fun and I got to tour the country playing everywhere from Maine to California.
I became fascinated with search engine optimization at my previous job. I like researching and learning new things and because SEO is constantly changing, I find it challenging and exciting learning about the latest algorithm changes and updates. It never gets boring.
I got married in 2013 and my wife, Becky, and I live in Olathe with our son, Indiana. We don’t own a TV, but we’re Netflix fans, so we watch all of our shows on the computer. Not that we have a lot of spare time with a baby in the mix, but we’re really enjoying being parents and watching him grow.
