Overall Responsibilities

The Search Engine Marketing Specialist (SEMS) will assist the agency and clients in the setup and management of all SEM and SEO efforts. This includes account setups with search engines, online directories, SEM campaign setups, keyword setups and the ongoing management of these campaigns. Plus, organic search engine results monitoring using online software. The SEMS may also contribute to anchor linking, back linking strategies and other online services to increase organic rankings.

SEM Programs Admin

The SEMS will setup accounts per the request of the agency, client and Marketing Consultant aligned with that account. Setups will be performed for maximum ROI and within a specified budget. In addition this person will setup and monitor all campaign reports sent to clients or agency.

SEM Campaign Performance

The SEMS will measure campaign/keyword performance and set monthly goals for metrics, including but not limited to, impressions, clicks and conversions. The SEMS will be held accountable for client form submissions and revenue generated thru SEM campaigns. If further on-site or off-site actions need to be taken for increased ROI, then the SEMS is responsible for making those recommendations to the agency, MC, and the client (with the MC’s permission).

SEM Software/Tools

The SEMS is responsible for keeping up with technology, SEM performance tools and improved ways of increasing ROI for the agency and client.

Special Projects

In addition to SEM tasks, the SEMS will also take on special on-line projects when asked. These will be projects directly related to the agencies success on-line and with customers and prospects.

Works With

Web Designers, Web Developers, Copywriters, Marketing Coordinators and Account Executives.

Terms of Employment

There will be a 90-day introductory period in which an employee evaluation will take place. At this time, continuation of employment will be decided upon between both parties. Insurance will be optional for the employee at this time. Bonus options are available and qualification depends on start date.

Software Experience

Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel. Knowledge of PC and Mac both are helpful. Also must be an expert in Google, Yahoo, Bing and MSN SEM products, plus Google Analytics for measuring website performance.

Performance Qualifications

The SEMS must be able to work under tight deadlines. He/she must be able to work on multiple projects/clients at the same time. The SEMS must be able to read, understand and interpret analytics and think on your feet without being managed. Having a positive attitude, being “likeable” and communicating professionally is a must.

Education & Work History Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent is required in Marketing, Business Development or Analytics. A minimum of 2 years experience in an agency or corporate environment is necessary.

Work Conditions/Requirements

This position requires handling multiple tasks in short periods of time while maintaining composure with other employees and clients. High levels of stress may occur when dealing with deadlines on a regular basis. In addition, long durations of sitting are required to fulfill the duties of a SEMS where strain on the eyes, back, neck and more can be physically challenging.

This position requires a strong knowledge and insight of current web trends. In addition, you must have the knack for finding answers and creating on-line solutions to accomplish the needs of a website and/or client.
